Between the ages of 18-24 months, toddlers enter the Older Toddler program. Each classroom has a 12 child capacity with a ratio of 1 teacher to every 4 children to ensure that your child has quality care. The bond between the caregiver and the child is important to cultivate, so the children bond to one main teacher. Children sleep in the classroom on cots and eat in the classroom.
Children in the Older Toddler room continue to learn and develop through play in the following three areas: socio-emotionally, cognitively, and physically. Socio-emotional growth is fostered by intentional learning opportunities for the children to express their feelings through dramatic play as well as bonding with friends and participating in parallel play. Learning social norms such as please and thank you is emphasized. Children develop cognitively as they begin to learn words to songs, simple counting skills and letter recognition. Physical development occurs through attention to small and large motor skill experiences incorporated into daily lesson plans. Every aspect of the classroom is intentionally designed to help your child grow.
