Social - emotional: play cooperatively together in classroom settings. Use dramatic play to act out real life situations, problem solving skills within conflict are emphasized at this age level. Development of self-help skills in dressing, toileting and eating are emphasized in this age group.
Cognitive: children are continuing to gain understanding of number concepts through sequencing, counting and recognition. They are beginning to incorporate letter/sound recognition into word recognition, as well as uppercase and lowercase letter differentiation.
Physical: small motor skills are incorporated into daily lesson plans with the use of fuse beads, Wedgets, cutting skills, and beginning writing skills. Large motor skills being developed at this stage are running, jumping on one foot, walking backwards, balancing skipping and galloping.
