Older Toddlers

  • Ages: 24 months to 30/33 months
  • Transitions occur as our staff and parents feel the child is emotionally and physically ready to make the move
  • 12 child capacity
  • Ratio: 1 teacher to every 4 children
  • Primary caregivers: children bond to one main teacher
  • Sleep on cots right in classroom
  • Children eat in classroom

Children in the Older Toddler room continue to learn and develop through play in the following areas:

Social - emotional: learning to express their feelings through dramatic play. Have bonded with friends and are participating in parallel play. Learning social norms such as please and thank you.

Cognitive: Beginning to learn words to songs, simple counting skills and letter recognition. Continuation of simple problem solving with puzzles and linking toys.

Physical: fine motor skills such as cutting, stacking and grasping small objects. Large motor skills such as running, rolling, hopping and climbing.
